Everyone knows that Halloween is full of iconic movies, and movie moments; we all practically grew up on them. And when we watch a scary movie, we know we can’t just watch one. Here are 20 horror movies that should make everyone’s Halloween marathon.

The Conjuring 2

The Conjuring 2 rejoins the Warrens after their biggest, and most documented, demon excursions, the Amityville Haunting. They travel all the way to England, while eyes from the media, and the church, watch them, skeptically. The Conjuring 2 has been considered one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer, making over $102,470,008 in total, while the budget was only 40 million dollars.

Sinister

Sinister asks the question; what happens when the demon’s not in their house, but in their family? The movie follows an one-hit-wonder crime author, and his family, as they look for success in a murder house. What he doesn’t know, however, is that by moving into the house, something moves into their minds. Many people have given Sinister absolutely rave reviews; one supporter is Roger Ebert, a movie critic, who said, “Sinister" is an undeniably scary movie, with performances adding enough human interest to give depth to the basic building blocks of horror.”

Psycho

The name says it all, Psycho is a thrilling horror movie, a classic. Ask anyone older than the age of 20, and it’ll be obvious; Psycho is something people can’t go through life without seeing. This black and white horror flick forces the audience to wonder about just how people deal with their feelings. Psycho was so popular that in 2013, a prequel in the form of a TV show aired, titled “Bates Motel”.

10 Cloverfield Lane

Ok let's get real, this movie isn’t necessarily a “horror” movie, but I swear at moments, this movie will scare the bejesus out of the toughest person in the world. Who’s lying, who’s telling the truth? This movie throws curveball after curveball as the audience tries to find some sense of reassurance. Critics have raved over 10 Cloverfield Lane; including Justin Chang from Variety, who said, “A sensationally effective semi-sequel that bears virtually no narrative or stylistic resemblance to its predecessor.”

The Shining

“I see dead people,” Possibly the most famous horror movie of all time, the shining takes place in the hotel from everyone’s deepest and darkest nightmares. It follows a family- a man, his wife, and his child. Demons and possessions assured. The Shining was a sensation of the 1980’s, with people lining up to watch it; the movie has made over forty-four million dollars.

The Babadook

With an ending that will make the audience, audibly, say “What?”, The Babadook is a great movie to watch in the dark. It follows an Australian mother as she tries to deal with her son, who has taken up believing that a monster is after him. But what is she supposed to do when the monster under the bed, or in the book, is actually real. The Babadook is one of the best horror movies from 2014, with critics like Kim Newman, from Empire, saying, “One of the strongest, most effective horror films of recent years,”.

The Silence of the Lambs

Clarice? The Silence of the Lambs, a huge worldwide blockbuster, follows FBI agent, Clarice Starling, as she seeks the help of the imprisoned Hannibal “The Cannibal” Lecter to get her target, Buffalo Bill. Along the way we learn about the inner workings of the brain, and about human nature. The Silence of the Lambs has made over $130,742,922, widely surpassing its’ budget of nineteen million dollars.

Goodnight Mommy

This foreign film will make the audience question EVERYTHING. Lets just say that whatever the audience thinks is happening, it’s not. However, let the squeamish be aware, this movie is not for those who feel sick easily.

The fear of clowns didn’t start in 2016. This, being the original scary clown scare, is one of Stephen King's’ best stories. It follows a group of people stuck on a island with a psychotic, murderous clown. The pranks don’t seem so bad now do they.

Children of The Corn

What happens without adults? A cult of brainwashed children who worship a Corn God. Led by the demon child Isaac Chroner, the kids kill and torture any outsiders that attempt to enter their land. And at the age of 18, they give themselves up for a “honorable” sacrifice to their god who lives in the corn fields. What happens when a couple stumbles upon their little organization?
