What to do this Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and people have lots of ways to celebrate the holiday. If you want this year’s Thanksgiving to be one of the best, you’re in luck! These are the best ways you can entertain yourself this Thanksgiving.

Macy’s has its annual Thanksgiving Day parade, filled with balloons and floats starring your favorite TV and movie characters. The Thanksgiving Day parade starts at 9 a.m. and lasts until noon. Local news stations like CBS and NBC typically broadcast the parade. You can watch the parade on Verizon’s YouTube channel as well. The parade is consistently great to watch with your friends and family members. It’s always fun and exciting to see what balloons will light up the parade each year.

Playing games is a fun way to have some fun with everyone. Games like Monopoly, Life, Uno, and Clue are a great way to spend some quality time with friends and family members. If board games aren’t your thing, play games like Charades, Would You Rather or Never Have I Ever. These are all fun for the whole family, and there is always something for everyone.

On Thanksgiving, one thing most people look forward to is the giant feast, an American classic. People enjoy feasting on turkey, stuffing, rolls, and pies. Green beans and corn are typical side dishes served with turkey. You can also serve ham with turkey as well. Before you start digging into all the food, ask everyone what they’re thankful for. After all, that’s what Thanksgiving is celebrated for.

Because the Thanksgiving meal is such a big meal, it may leave you and your guests feeling tired. Sit down and doze off on the couch for a little while after the big meal. Others may choose to take a walk around the neighborhood instead or watch TV. You don’t always have to be active to completely enjoy the holiday.

Freshman Alexis Marques says, “I help make potatoes and things on Thanksgiving and usually babysit my 15 cousins.” Freshman Olivia Rodriguez also said, “I usually just stay at home and chill most of the time.”

There are many other ways to celebrate the holiday, but the best part is just being together with your family and being thankful for what you have. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Wranglers!
