NFL Free Agency is Here!

Carson Fiksenbaum, reporter

Free agency is a time that all National Football Association fans wait for. It is a time for their teams to get the best available players to make a push for the Lombardi trophy. In the 2021 free agency class, there are a bunch of top-tier players available. The list includes star wide receivers like JuJu Smith-Schuster, Will Fuller V, Kenny Golladay, and so many more talented receivers. Some of the biggest headliners in the free agency class are: JJ Watt, Bud Dupree, Dak Prescott, Patrick Peterson, Jonnu Smith, and so much more.

Sophomore Ori Gold said, “I think that the biggest signing will be JJ Watt.” When asked who might be the most underrated free agent, sophomore Alex Rahim said, “I believe Bud Dupree is an underrated player and free agent.” These predications are both on the defensive side of the ball. You know what they say, “Defense wins championships.”

To open the free agency period, it was star defensive end, JJ Watt, taking his talents to the Arizona Cardinals to team up with his former Texan, DeAndre Hopkins. Then the New England Patriots started off free agency with a bang when they signed tight ends Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry, in addition to the signing of outside linebacker Matthew Judon. It’s not only signings that make free agency so entertaining, it is also the trades. The biggest trade so far is the trade which sent former 1st overall pick, Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams. The next trade that will shock up the NFL world will be the Deshaun Watson trade. Watson has wanted out of the Houston Texans organization, and now he is trying to find a team to trade for him. Free agency is a time of change in the NFL, and one signing could be enough to get a team over the hump and win the Super Bowl. The 2021-2022 NFL season will be a great one and hopefully WCTA students can enjoy the season together!
